It’s just three weeks until our meet-up with the Vancouver and Portland MQGs. We’ve got a lot of great things planned and wanted to share all of the details.
Friday night: 7:30pm – Cocktails, Check-in, & Laughs at Jasmine Lounge (this is connected to the Executive Hotel Pacific, where many are staying)
Saturday Morning: Drive to West Seattle to board the Ferry to Vashon Island – and then drive to Island Quilter for a day of sewing.
For the Seattle MQG, the cost for the sew-in will be $2 per person to cover the cost of the sewing space. The cost of the ferry will depend on the number of people in your carpool.
Our own Katie Pederson has coordinated an amazing charity sewing day (10am – 3pm) for us. We will be collaborating together in small groups (so that we can all get to know one another) to make quilts for charity. Robert Kaufman, Warm and Natural, Aurifil, Bernina NW, and Island Quilter are generously donating supplies for us to use – a very big THANK YOU to our generous sponsors. All that you have to bring is a little fabric for the tops. Please bring:
- 10 cut 4 1/2″ squares of two different small scale fabrics
- One 4 1/2″ girly fabric square
- One 4 1/2″ boyish fabric square
- Sandwich size ziplock bag of scraps (including 2″ strips if you have them)
Coffee and tea will be available. Lunch is ‘on our own’. There is a market across the street with full deli, sandwich and soup bar. The Vashon Island Farmers’ Market is also open on Saturdays.
On our way back to Seattle, we’ll make a stop into West Seattle Fabric Company, to see all of their goodies!
Saturday Dinner: Again, we’re on our own but around the Executive Hotel Pacific, there are many restaurants. Rock Bottom Brewery, Tulio Restorante, Pike Place Bar & Grill, and many more. Here is a short list from the hotel. Since there are over 50 of us, we thought it would be best to be on your own and decide where you’d like to go with friends.
Sunday morning: Shop Hopping in Ballard. Drygoods Design is opening early for us (10 am) and will even be treating us to mimosas and pastries. On Sunday, Ballard has an amazing farmer’s market (and Drygoods Design is in the heart of the market). Less than a half a mile away is The Quilting Loft! The shop hopping in Ballard will mark the end of our meet-up.
If you want to still come along it’s not too late! Click here and fill out this form to officially sign up. The deadline to RSVP is July 31st. Then, you’ll be invited into a Google group via an email, where you can get to know everyone prior to leaving and also work out carpools and/or dinner plans.
