Name Tag Challenge
Our first challenge as an official guild is to help us to get to know each better and show off our creativity. Please create your own quilted name tag to be worn at meetings, sew-ins, and other guild events. We have some approximately 1-1/2″ square fabric Seattle Modern Quilt Guild logos that Sandie printed up on Spoonflower and we’d love to challenge you to incorporate them into your name tags (either on the front or back). We will distribute the logos at the February 11th meeting, or you can contact Chandra Wu (chandrawu [at] gmail [dot] com) to receive one directly from her if you won’t be at the meeting.
Parameters: Name tag must be sewn by you and include some quilted elements. Size should be smaller than 8″ square, and should be something you can easily wear. Please feel free to use any additional techniques you wish (embroidery, cross stitch, appliqué, beading, paper piecing, etc). You must include the SMQG logo on the front or back. There are some beautiful name tags on Flickr for inspiration, or just use your own imagination! Click here for a gallery with more ideas and inspiration.
Deadline: March 11, 2013
Madrona Road Challenge Update
The deadline for the SMQG challenge is still February 28th, with a show-and-tell at the following general meeting.
If you are interested in submitting to the national MQG challenge, the deadline for the Madrona Road challenge is swiftly approaching (see the national MQG page for more details). You must submit your finished work to the Madrona Road flickr group by midnight PST January 31st to be considered for the official prizes. If you post to the Flickr group by January 31st your work will be considered for display at the Michael Miller booth at QuiltCon.
And a reminder for all challenges and other work you create: please post it to the Seattle Modern Quilt Guild Flickr group. We love seeing all your beautiful quilts and creations, and Flickr gets a lot of traffic so your quilts will be shared with many outside the guild, too!
