July Meeting Recap

About 40 members and guests gathered July 10 for a mid summer meeting in the much larger Greenwood room.  Hope we can get it again, don’t you?  Chandra led the meeting and got us quickly through the business section of the meeting and on to a fun exercise.  The name tagging activity challenged us to interpret a fellow member’s signature into a graphic design.  With a little help from our neighbors and after getting out of our boxes, we were off to the races.

Our first member survey revealed the number one favorite color in the guild is GREEN!  Is our choice influenced by Pantone’s color of the year, Emerald, or is it influenced of our beautiful natural environment?  Afterall, we live in the Evergreen State and are based in the Emerald City.

To get a head start on next month, make Just One Slab for Alberta.  And, start looking for tote bag patterns for the PNW Meetup.  Watch for more details on the exchange with our neighbor PNW guilds.

Blocks from our Clothworks Organics Solids challenge were revealed.  The challenge was to use a packet of Everyday Organic Solids provided by Clothworks to produce a modern block.  Wow, did we deliver some awesome blocks!  We went from these lovely bundles

Our members brought amazing work for show-and-tell.  Check out our Flickr site for more photos.  Here are some highlights:

Standing ovation for Erin’s first quilt!  She’s been quilting for a month and has newborn twins.  Congratulations!

Tracey shared a lap quilt with Ikea text backing.  She wonders what future quilt historians will think about all the Ikea fabric used worldwide.

Chandra unfurled her red and white star quilt.  Five of these blocks are from quarter 3 of the Flickr 3×6 swap last year.
