Seattle MQG Returns to Northwest Folklife Festival

The Seattle Modern Quilt Guild has been invited for a second year to exhibit member quilts at the 2014 Northwest Folklife Festival.  This year is the 43rd annual event and occurs May 23-26 (Memorial Day Weekend) at the Seattle Center.  Our exhibit will be in the beautiful Intiman Courtyard.

There are plans to show more quilts than last year and we need yours. In case we have more submittals than space, a committee has been formed to select quilts for the exhibit.  Your quilt needs to labeled with your name so it can be returned to you. You may also supply a hanging sleeve and a rigid tube or hanging rod if you have one but we will try to display quilts using binder clips.

The quilt submittal form asks for a link to the photo of your quilt. If you cannot provide a link to a photo of your quilt (a flickr link is fine), please bring it to the April 9th Seattle Modern Quilt Guild Meeting to be photographed so that we can review submissions and select quilts for the show.

Submit your quilt for the exhibit and volunteer to help with the show by using this form (sorry, the form is closed). One quilt per form, of course.

    • Good news! If you submitted a quilt or quilts for our exhibit at the NW Folklife Festival, it was accepted. Please bring your quilt(s) in a protective bag to the May 14th meeting. Don’t forget to label your quilt and bag with your name so it can be returned to you. It’ll be a great exhibit.

  1. I just happen to be visiting Seattle during the festival and I’m really looking forward to seeing your exhibit! Excited to bring some quilty inspiration back to the Pittsburgh MQG!

    • Hi, Melissa – we’re so glad you’re visiting Seattle. Please stop and say “hi”. While you’re downtown, get one of the coveted “you are here” mugs from the original Starbucks on Pike. There’s also a Miro exhibit at the Seattle Art Museum for some modern art inspiration. We’ve got a sew-in on Saturday at Quiltworks Northwest in Bellevue on Saturday if you’re craving some stitching time. The Sew-in page has the details. Have fun in Seattle!
