Holiday Weekend Happenings and Info from May’s Meeting

Who’s ready for a long holiday weekend?!  Okay, put your hands down. 🙂

In case you can’t think of enough things to fill that extra time, we have some suggestions.

Suggestion 1:  Check out our Seattle Modern Quilt Guild Exhibit at the Northwest Folklife Festival at the Seattle Center.  You’ll find it in the Intiman Courtyard.  The exhibit committee worked hard today to get all the quilts up and labeled.  Looking good!

We are also showing the result of our Clothworks Organic Modern Solids Block challenge.  This is the first of two quilts made from the blocks.  We went from this…

Suggestion 2:  Join us for our Sew-In at Quiltworks Northwest on Saturday from 10:30-5:30.  It’s a great place to sew and there’s room for you.

Suggestion 3:  Browse through the quilting bees and swaps list member Allison D posted on our MQG site group page.  Didn’t she do a great job telling us about on-line bees and swaps at the May meeting? Allison put together a great list full of tempting possibilities.  What?  You’re not sure how to get onto the MQG site?  Check out suggestion number 4….

Suggestion 4:  Get yourself set for our future by getting on the Modern Quilt Guild site and joining the Seattle MQG group.  Once we fully move over to the MQG site, you’ll be glad you browsed the MQG site and learned your way around it. Here’s the tutorial presented at May’s meeting: MQGSite.

Whew!  That seems like enough to fill a long weekend.  Whatever you do, hope it is full of fun and at least a bit of sewing!

  1. Would you mind if I posted a copy of the challenge quilt picture to my Flickr? I want to keep a copy because I’m so pleased with how the binding turned out, but I’m not sure I’ll be able to make it to the show this weekend…
