Seattle MQG is very excited to welcome Sherri Lynn Wood for a lecture and workshop the weekend of Feb 27-28, 2015. She will be joining us just after she teaches at Quiltcon, which makes this an extra special opportunity for those of you who are not going to Austin.
Sherri has been quilting since 1989 and has become an expert on improvisational patchwork and piecing. A few of our members have been lucky enough to take improv classes from her before and all had great things to say. She will be teaching her Improvisational Patchwork Doodling workshop to us on Saturday Feb 28th at 12:00pm. It’s a 6 hour class plus an hour lunch break.
Sherri Lynn Wood Workshop
What: Improvisational Patchwork Doodling
Doodling is the model for this playful yet challenging approach to improvisational patchwork. Letting go of expectations, plans or a preconceived outcome, participants will practice building patterns with simple shapes and negative space, while learning basic improvisational sewing techniques. It is a flowing YES, AND “drawing” that accepts and builds on what comes immediately before. Like a doodle it is not planned nor is it random – it’s responsive… and plenty of fun! All skill levels. Sherri has a little more info on her blog post about Quiltcon.
When: February 28th, 12:00-7:00pm
Where: Greenwood Senior Center
Price: $88, online Paypal payment only. Your payment reserves your spot. No additional fees or pattern needed for this workshop and a supply list will be provided before the class. Refunds will be given for cancellations only if your spot is able to be re-sold or if the workshop is cancelled due to low attendance.
Who: This workshop is limited to 25 participants and is open only to 2015 Seattle MQG members at this time.
Sherri Lynn Wood Lecture
While here, Sherri will also be holding a lecture for Seattle MQG members on Friday, February 27th at 6pm at the Red Lion Hotel in Bellevue. There is no charge for the lecture and attendance is limited to current paid Seattle MQG members only. Space is limited so your RSVP is required and will be accepted first come, first served. If your plans change, please let us know so we can give your spot to someone on the waitlist.
