Our spring retreat is coming up; let’s start planning an amazing getaway! I’ll announce all the details at the February meeting, but I wanted to give everyone an opportunity to start thinking about the retreat before then.
Retreat Information
When: Friday, April 29, through Sunday, May 1 (arrival at 9am on Friday, departure at 3pm on Sunday)
Location: Camp Burton on Vashon Island
Cost: Approximately $200 to $240 based on single, double or triple occupancy. More details coming soon!
Call for Volunteers
Thank you to the people who have already offered to help plan the retreat! Please send me an email or talk to me at the February meeting if you are interested in getting involved. If you volunteer and are chosen to head one of the five subcommittees listed below you will be guaranteed a spot at retreat.
Registration: This volunteer’s job will be to set up online registration. Be prepared to start fairly soon.
Activities: Would you like to lead a group activity? Perhaps you have a technique you’d like to share with us. Maybe you have an idea for a creative group project. Please let me know your ideas!
Snacks/Drinks: We’ll have a sign-up for individual contributions, but we need someone to set up the snack table and make sure it stays neat and tidy during the retreat.
Happy Hour/Games: This volunteer’s job will be to organize the Saturday night party with food and games and whatever other fun you dream up.
Gifts/Swag: Finally, it wouldn’t be a retreat without gifts of fabric, tools, patterns, etc. Please consider this role if you know how to procure the stuff quilters love.
House Rules
To ensure everyone’s enjoyment of the retreat, there are a couple of guidelines we’re asking everyone to follow this year.
Keep the aisles and walkways clear. Please keep you and your supplies out of the common areas. If you have a lot of stuff, it is your responsibility to arrive early and set up in out of the way location (in a corner, for example).
Store extra fabric, supplies, etc in your room or vehicle. We all like to have extra projects and fabric on hand. Since space is limited at Camp Burton, please keep your belongings that you are not using in your room or in your vehicle.
If you volunteer to bring supplies to share, please leave them at Camp Burton for the full duration of the retreat. If you need to leave retreat early, we ask that you make arrangements to have another attendee (NOT board members or retreat organizers) deliver your shared supplies to you after the retreat.
Thank you!
