Our 2016 QuiltCon charity quilt was an exciting project for our guild. Our committee planned a modern interpretation of a traditional lone star quilt, starting with the color palette given to us by the MQG. Many guild members worked to create the diamonds pieced in an improvisational style.
However, when color assignments were randomly distributed to members at our monthly meetings, somehow no one drew the color blue. After putting up the first set of diamonds on the design wall, we felt that fate had spoken and the blue was eliminated from our final quilt. The resulting color palette gave emphasis to the exploding star effect from the improv piecing.

Megan Riley completed the project with beautiful quilting including words that emphasized the inspiration and creation process we all go through as we design and create our quilts. And after much hard work, our Flame of Inspiration was born!

Can you share how large a diamond you used? I love what you all created!
It was 13 inches across on the longest diagonal.
