“Modern quilts are primarily functional and inspired by modern design.” This is the first sentence in the Modern Quilt Guild’s definition of modern quilting.
Do you use yours? I think a lot of us do but we don’t really take or share pictures of the quilts in use. I noticed that when I was looking for pictures to add to this post. I wonder if that’s because we find the pictures of the process more exciting than the use? Or maybe we give them all away and have none left at our own homes.
I’m working on a presentation for the guild on how we use our modern quilts and I’d love your help. Can you please send me a picture or two? Maybe they’re on your bed to keep you warm at night they have a permanent home on the couch to snuggle with.
Maybe you take them outside for picnics and playtime.
Maybe you play with them inside, building awesome quilt forts or just having a good time in general.
Whatever their use to you, we want to see! Please send a picture or a link to a picture to programs @ seattlemodernquiltguild . com in the next week or so and let me know if it’s alright to share the pictures here on the blog and/or at a meeting.
Don’t have a picture to share? I challenge you to take one in the next 2 weeks and share it. We put so much time and effort and love into each quilt – you deserve to see that quilt being loved when you’re finished making it! Maybe we should start a new hashtag – how about #quiltsinuse?
