If you haven’t heard already, the Central Oregon Modern Quilt Guild will be hosting a PNW quilt guilds meet up in Bend, Oregon August 10th-12th 2018!
Below is a message from COMQG. If you think you might be able to attend, please fill out the survey to help them with planning.
“Hello Everyone! We are so excited for Central Oregon to be hosting the PNW MQG Meet-Up this year. We are still ironing out details, but wanted to share what we have so far. Also, please fill out the survey below so we can gather a little more information before we open registration.
WHO:
MQG members and friends from around the northwest.
WHEN:
Friday August 10th – Sunday August 12th 2018.
WHERE:
We will be in a large, air conditioned church in Bend, Oregon. We are going to have to cap registration based on the first survey results. We will have about 80 spots available to accommodate machines, due to the limited number of outlets. If we have a large number of people (capped at 150 instead of 80) you will need to be prepared for some hand work (hand binding, cutting, embroidery, etc.) so that we are able to rotate people through on machine outlets.
You will be responsible for your own lodging. The church is on the north end of town, towards Tumalo. We have some great hotels and resorts throughout Central Oregon. You can even find some great camp sites if you want to go that route.
WHAT:
The current plan is open sewing on Friday (approximately 9am-4pm) and Saturday (approximately 9am-2 or 4pm). We will be able to leave our stuff at the church Friday night. Wrap up on Saturday really depends on your input. We would like to be able to stay all day on Saturday, but in order to do so, we will need volunteers to help stay and clean up.
We will also be making a few quilts for a local non-profit organization, Orphanages of Kenya. We picked this non-profit because they are the ones helping us with the space. Space is extremely expensive and this is a small token in exchange. Without this partnership we would not be able to pull this off. We ask that you make a few blocks ahead of time and bring them to the meet-up. Directions will be included in registration.
HOW MUCH:
The cost of the meet-up will be $40.00 per person. This includes all day sewing Friday and Saturday (will have some basic snacks and drinks throughout the sew days, but you will need to provide your own meals), a brewery social on Saturday night (apps and beer), and Sunday sewing in the park (breakfast treats, coffee, juice).
EXTRAS:
We will have a self-guided shop hop with prizes drawn at our Sunday Morning social. We will have swag bags for anyone who is registered before June 1. We will also be hosting a zipper bag swap (details to follow at registration.) We will have a few optional demos and speakers during the sew days. We also hope to have some door prizes.
The registration fee includes all of these, but we do need to know your interests and tentative plans, so we can plan accordingly.
We think that is it for now…. If you can please fill out the survey below, we can get a few more details ironed out, and we will be able to open registration! We are looking forward to hosting you all and we cannot wait!”
