Join Krista Hennebury and your fellow Seattle MQG members for our fist workshops of 2019! Krista will be teaching us two different workshops that feature structured improvisational piecing.
First up will be Krista’s newest workshop offering of her Courthouse Colourplay quilt.
In this workshop we will learn the structured improv techniques used to created Krista’s courthouse colourplay quilt. This is a great project to explore color and be creative while exploring structured improv. We’ll learn the answers to the important questions about this quilt, How does it go together? and How do you know what color to choose next
What: Courthouse Colourplay Quilt
Where: Greenwood Senior Center – 525 N 85th ST., Seattle, WA 98103
When: Saturday April 6, 2019 – 11:00 am – 5:00 pm

Fabric Requirements: 12-18 fat eighths or 8″ x Width of fabric cuts of solid color fabrics (for a wall-hanging size quilt)
OR
12-18 Fat quarters or 12′ x Width of fabric cuts of solid color fabrics (for a larger, lap-sized quilt)
Optional: 3/4 yard white fabric (for accents or mini-borders), 3/4 yard black fabric (for accents or mini-borders).

The Second Workshop of 2019 will be Krista’s Speed Date with Improv quilt
Think of this workshop as speed dating with improvisational piecing techniques that include curves and free-cutting without rulers. It will be fast-paced and a lot of fun: several techniques are introduced and demonstrated one after the other with very little time to second guess, stress or obsess over perfection. Every student will end up with a unique, original improv sampler quilt! The focus here is to explore line, shape and happenstance in abstract design. We’ll learn how to jigsaw the improv elements together, seeking balance and creative design opportunities. Some pre-cutting is required.
