The Greater Seattle Business Association (GSBA) is Washington State’s LGBTQ & Allied chamber of commerce and represents over 1,300 small business, corporate, and nonprofit members in Seattle, Washington. EQUALUX is the largest LGBTQ Gala in the Pacific Northwest and an annual charity dinner and auction that raises funds for the GSBA Scholarship Fund, one of the oldest scholarship programs for LGBTQ students seeking higher education. I thought this auction was a perfect fit for our Feather Bed Quilt inscribed with the message “Be Brave Be Kind Be True”.
The auction will take place on Nov 23; our own David Owen Hastings will be attending and will hopefully give us a full report on how the quilt was received. Due to deadlines, we were unable to show off this finished quilt as a meeting (in fact, I didn’t even get to see it), but David took some great photos for us and it looks like a real stunner!
This quilt was based on the Feather Bed Quilt pattern by Anna Maria Horner and the colorful feathers were made by members of the SMQG. Paper pieced letters are from the My First Alphabet pattern by From Blank Pages. The beautiful custom quilting with echo stitching around the letters, feathering on the feathers, and swirls to fill in the negative space was done by Matt Macomber. To finish it all up, David Owen Hastings bound it in a very tasteful flange binding with just a little pop of color.
Thank you David for the great morning light photos!
