2020 Block of the Month – Susan & Kathy
- Susan (@sushifarmer) and Kathy (@a_swede_life) are designing and coordinating this year’s BOM, called “Cascadia Cabin in the Woods”
- They shared a sample of the quilt at the meeting
- It is a row-by-row quilt intended to be adaptable to all levels of quilters due to the amount of improv you chose to incorporate

Pacific Northwest Meet-up Survey – TIME SENSITIVE
The Portland MQG is planning another MQG meetup for this summer. They have sent out a very brief survey looking for feedback including input on possible dates. Please take a moment in the next few days to complete the survey so we can help them make some decisions!

Opportunities to Get Involved in 2020
Please see a board member if you are interested in contributing to the success of our guild.
- Help us make the nomination/election process more transparent by getting involved
- Volunteer on a committee to help plan a retreat, swap, or help greet members and visitors at meetings
- Volunteer to help organize a sew-in in your neighborhood at libraries, churches, or coffee shops
- We are specifically looking for someone to help with Instagram posts, which are primarily photos from the meeting sew-n-tell
- Volunteer at meetings to help at the sign-in table, be a greeter or a buddy to new members
2020 Membership Renewal
- Live on the blog now – 145 signed up so far
- Please renew by 1/25/2020 so we can pay our guild dues to the MQG without a lapse in membership cards
- Anyone not renewed by this date will lose access to MQG website beginning 2/1/2020
- Dues are unchanged from 2019 – $57 ($55 + $2 PayPal processing)
Your dues fund rental of meeting space, learning opportunities and programming, charity quilts, deposits and future activities, quarterly sew-ins at GSC and the annual holiday party sew-in.
New Members
If you are a new member as of November, December or January don’t forget to pick up your logo tag and pin – usually at the sign in table at meetings or talk to Megan
Giving Committee
A new giving committee design was debuted by Matt, called “Improv New York Beauty.” Fabrics to be used were handed out at the meeting.
- Simple freehand cutting technique using two fat quarters
- Makes two blocks at once!
- Instructions are on the blog
- Package contains two contrasting fat quarters
- Press as desired – choose the path of least resistance
The Quiltcon Charity Quilt is nearly complete.

Upcoming Workshops
Anna Maria Horner is coming to see us in January 2020! The Color Fluency Workshop is full, while there is still space in the Cross Country Workshop. See the blog for the registration link.

- Workshops are for members only (though watch the blog as we might open the Cross Country Workshop to non members.)

Tara Faughnan will be teaching workshops on March 14 & 15, 2020 and Timna Tarr will be teaching workshops on September 12 & 13 and giving a trunk show at our September 9 guild meeting.
Guild Library
Our librarian, Kae, has newly organized our little transportable library. You can check out and return books on the back table at every meeting. Suggested check out period is a month but can be extended.
MQG Website

- Check out the monthly content from the MQG – Block Study, Quilt of the Month, Webinars
- Find episodes of Fresh Quilting
- Upload photos of guild events and quilts for possible use on the guild facebook and instagram pages
Sew-Ins
- The guild is looking for new locations for sew-ins that have larger spaces and parking
- We are also looking for members interested in organizing local/neighborhood sew-ins
- A sew-in was held January 11 at the Greenwood Senior Center.
MQG Events
