QuiltCon 2016 Charity quilt

The theme of this year’s QuiltCon Charity quilt is “improv with intent.”  Our guild will be making a modern/improv interpretation of the traditional lone star quilt.  The final layout will be determined by what you, our members, create.

The blocks we will be creating are the diamonds for the star.  Each participant will create a diamond (or several if interested) to fit the diamond template. Here is the template: QuiltCon_template. Your contribution does not need to be attached to the template; it just needs to fully cover the template.  Please print the pdf file at actual size and NOT fit to page.

Please only use those colors that are in the palette selected by the Modern Quilt Guild (which can be found here).  The color palette can be described as white, off-white, sunflower, tomato red, light teal, grey and black.  Each diamond needs to be improvisationally pieced in a modern style using a main color and one or two accent colors.  The accent colors should be minimal, comprising approximately 15% or less of the diamond.  No prints!  Colors combinations we are using can be found on this thread on the MQG community site.

Please bring your diamonds to the next guild meeting on Octover 14th or contact Amber on the MQG community site to arrange for alternate drop off.

  1. Looks like I’ll be using yellow, grey and off-white, because these are the colours I have in my stash! (along with black) Now that I’ve looked at both Kona Ash and MM Cotton Couture in Fog, they are very different greys. Is this an issue?
