Seattle Modern Quilt Guild Meeting Minutes

Block of the Month – Stefanie

  • Stephanie (@satterwhitequilts) is running this year’s BOM, called “Begonia”
  • It is a mystery quilt based on half square triangle blocks

Directory

  • The membership directory is now available on the MQG site, in the SEAMQG members-only Seattle circle page

Giving Committee

  • Instructions for the next giving quilt are posted on the blog
  • The quilt is based on Anna Maria Horner’s Feathers
  • Green background fabric was handed out at the May meeting – more is available from Erica if needed

Fall 2019 Retreat

  • Will be held September 6-8, 2019 at Camp Huston in Gold Bar (Note, original calendar entry had incorrect date.)
  • Check out the monthly content from the MQG – Block Study, Quilt of the Month, Webinars
  • Registration will go live after the July meeting

Sew-Ins

  • Saturday June 22nd, Shoreline Public Library, 10:30 am – 5:00 pm
  • Saturday July 13th, Makers Mercantile, 10:30 am – 4:00 pm
  • Saturday August 10th, Greenwood Senior Center, 10:00 am – 6:00 pm
  • The guild is looking for new locations for sew-ins that have larger spaces and parking

Gossypium Update

  • Under new ownership and will be reopening in early July after a revamp.

  • Three quilt artists from the Contemporary Quilt Art Association spoke about their art quilt inspiration and journey.  Ginnie Hebert, Susan White Smith and Lisa Jenni showed many examples of their beautiful work.
