Last summer, before we even got going on our QuiltCon Charity quilt, we started a simple improv quilt inspired by Anne/Play Crafts’ Crayola Sunset. Debbie provided a tutorial for slabs measuring 6 1/2″ x 18 1/2″ OR 6 1/2″ x 24 1/2″. All in solid cool blues, greens, and purples, working from stash was a total success.
Debbie pieced the slabs together, and Dionne quilted it using an all-over Baptist Fan variation that added a lot of movement to the design.
Binding was done in a scrappy green mix by Deborah Christensen, and it suits the color play well. From a relatively simple block design and limited palette came a cheerful and striking quilt.
